Carl WITTKOPP GmbH

PASSION FOR SECURITY

Change with tradition

WITTKOPP still bears the name of its founder today. Carl Wittkopp set up his own lock manufacturing business in Velbert in 1857. What began over 165 years ago as a one-man business is now a medium-sized company with over 50 employees. Founded in the early days of industrialization, WITTKOPP has experienced social, political and economic changes and challenges over the years.

But just as Carl Wittkopp drove his workshop forward with a pioneering spirit and entrepreneurial courage, the future company leaders also recognized the changing needs and requirements of the markets. WITTKOPP developed from a locksmith's workshop into one of the world's leading manufacturers of high-security locks and security solutions for safes and vault doors.

Innovation with a history

What is the best way to secure what is valuable and important? High security locks from WITTKOPP provide convincing answers to this question. They set standards and stand for innovative and reliable systems. This is regularly confirmed by our customers as well as by national and international testing institutes.

At the same time, this question spurs us on every day and inspires our work. A constantly changing environment, complex requirements and new technologies challenge us and inspire us in equal measure. We consciously face up to these challenges and always have the result in mind: Tailor-made solutions for our customers.

New location with a future

After a construction period of just under 15 months, WITTKOPP moved to its new location in Velbert in May 2023, just a few kilometers from the previous company headquarters. The move has doubled our operating space to almost 4,000 square meters. Ideal conditions to support our customers even better, enable further continuous growth and be prepared for the future.

Environmental and climate protection were particularly important to WITTKOPP in the new building. Today, the buildings naturally meet high insulation standards for the outer shell and the latest building technology, from LED lighting to air/water heat pumps. A photovoltaic system supplies self-generated electricity. Passive air conditioning ensures the right climate. The electrically powered industrial trucks are charged at the company's own charging stations. These are also available to the employees' electric cars and e-bikes.

Combined knowledge

WITTKOPP is a member of various security industry associations. This allows us to keep abreast of trends and developments within the industry and benefit from relevant industry expertise. The high functionality and pioneering technologies of our products reflect this.
