Carl WITTKOPP GmbH

Passion for Security

Evolution with tradition

WITTKOPP still bears the name of its founder to this day. Carl Wittkopp started his own business in Velbert in 1857 with the manufacture of locks. What started as a one-man business over 165 years ago is now a medium-sized company with more than 50 employees. Originating in the early days of industrialization, WITTKOPP has experienced social, political and economic changes and challenges over the course of time.

Just as Carl Wittkopp drove his workshop forward with pioneering spirit and entrepreneurial courage, the company's future leaders also recognized the changing needs and requirements of the markets. From a locksmith's workshop, WITTKOPP developed into one of the world's leading manufacturers of high-security locks and security solutions for safes and vault doors.

Innovation with history

What is the best way to secure what is valuable and important? High-security locks from WITTKOPP provide convincing answers to this question. They set standards and stand for innovative and reliable systems. This is regularly confirmed by our customers, but also by national and international test institutes.

At the same time, this question motivates us every day and inspires our work. A constantly changing environment, complex requirements and new technologies challenge and excite us equally. We consciously face these challenges and always keep the result in mind: Customized solutions for our customers.

New location with a future

After a construction period of just under 15 months, WITTKOPP moved to its new location in Velbert in May 2023, only a few kilometers away from the previous company headquarters. The move has doubled our operating space to just under 4,000 square meters. Ideal conditions to support our customers even better, to enable further continuous growth and to be prepared for the future.

Environmental and climate protection were especially important to WITTKOPP with regard to the new building. The new buildings naturally comply with the exacting insulation standards for the exterior shell and state-of-the-art building technology, from from LED lighting to air/water heat pumps. A photovoltaic system supplies self-generated electricity. Passive air conditioning ensures the right indoor quality. The electrically driven industrial trucks are charged at the company's own charging stations. These are also available for employees' electric cars and electric bikes.
